transparent panels


can anyone tell me how i can get KDE or GNOME to have transparent panels like shown in this link...

Easy, go to:

Start > Control Center > Look and Feel > Style > Effects > Menu Effect

and then select "Make Translucent".

thanks root boy followed instructions worked like a charm.

Another question...Do you know know where i can get some cool KDE icons or gnome icons? and or kde themes?

Although i dont run KDE i guess google.com and kde-look.org is a good start.

How about Translucency in Gnome? Is it done the same way?

I did some looking about (and tried to configure it on my box), but had no luck. Here's my Google in case you'd like to try:
