If I have an application that causes everything to freeze, how do I kill the application or get to a terminal where I can kill the app?
I know how to use the kill command but I need to know what to do if I get a total lock up, no mouse, and seemingly no keyboard response.
Thanks

I'm guessing that you're running an Xwindow session? Have you tried <CTRL><ALT><BACKSPACE>? That should kill your xwindows session and get you to a console. You can also try <CTRL><ALT><Fn> where <Fn> is a function key <F1> to <F6> to get to a console tty. You can get back to you window session with <CTRL><ALT><F7>.

I would find out WHAT is causing the crash and WHY. Crashing is not an option. Got good RAM?
