Unhappy Too much SWAP space?

Hello,

I have a hp pavilion zv5000 laptop and I have installed Suse 9.1 on it. I also had installed Oracle 10g and Netbeans 4.0 as well. I also have the Apache and Tomcat running on this too. At first, the performance was poor (and got better when switching WM's) but eventually, I went out and purchased 512M of memory today so all is right with the world now

I had about 200M of memory (or thereabouts) to start off with - so - now I have over 700M of RAM. Things are running much better now (and I still use a scaled-down WM and not KDE).

I guess my question is as follows: I had reserved 1G of Swap space. I am wondering now if it is too big and if so, how can I claim some of it back.

TIA once more

The idea is really not to have to hit the swap space. your biggest concern is having too small of one.

The whol 2X ram rule is old. I haven't seen many systems need anything over 250 meg or so unless there is a lot of image rendering.

just use fdisk and chenge the size you can mess with the mkswap command
