Angry Tons of spam and viruses...

Hi

I'm running Red Hat 9.0 and ever since the "Sobig" virus onslaught, I have been getting hundreds of viruses and spams in my email each day. This is the case with ALL of my accounts and it has plugged them up solid. I get emails with titles like "wicked screensaver" and "your details", etc. I have tried all sorts of ways to block them but since they all come from unique addresses with forged headers, it has proven to be an impossable task and if I filter them by phrase-word, I end up blocking the legitimate ones. Is there anything that can be done about this and am I the only one getting all these spams like this?.....grrrrrrr....I HATE spammers!!!

Thank's

I use the Beyesian filter in Mozilla Thunderbird. It gets rid of 99% of my spam.

The emails depend on your email service not the OS and the sobig worm should not effect anything on your linux box, try Firestarter or some other firewall.

Right, I realize this. I just wanted to put a plug in for RH (hey, I have to squeeze it in somewhere!) . Seriously though, the reason I mentioned Linux was because Windows email clients are different than the ones used under Linux and so natually, the solution is going to be different (ie; Evolution -v- Outlook). I've actually got it under control now (thank God!) by simply using filters in Evolution.

Thank's again

No, what I'm actually saying is that I am using two different email clients on two different OS's...

Windows: Outlook Express
Linux: Evolution

...and unless I block everything server-side (which I have chosen not to do at the moment) I must use filters to block the spam on both my Windows and Linux boxes by going into Outlook Express and blocking them there and then Evolution to block the spam coming into my Linux box. this is what I mean by "different" because I am using filtering to block spam on two *different* email clients

Anyway, I've taken care of the problem now and appreciate your help.
