Unhappy Thrustmaster gamepad problems...

I have a USB Thrustmaster Firestorn Wireless Gamepad which i'm attempting to get working under Linux.
After plugging it in I do 'dmesg' to check that it's recognised and sure enough i get

blah...
blah...
blah...
hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.2-2, assigned address 2
usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 2, frame# 1365
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 3, frame# 228
input0: USB HID v1.00 Joystick [ Firestorm Wireless Gamepad] on usb4:2.0

So it's there but I can't get it to actually function when playing any games.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to LQ.

A couple of things. Firstly, may I recommend the programme usbview. It formats the information in your /proc/bus/usb in a (semi)intelligible manner. Very useful.

Secondly, open a terminal, become the user root, plug in the device and type dmesg. If you get the same as above then type lsmod and look for an entry along the lines of hid. This is the Human Interface Device, which your USB joystick should work with, even if only rudimentarily. If it has not been loaded, then type modprobe hid.

If this doesn't work then post back.

Good luck.
