The sound stopped working..

Strange... This could possibly be the problem.

ps ax

look through that to see if you can see anything that might be related to your sound. if so then

kill pid

the pid is the number that will be in front of the listing

then i would try the rmmod again. do it when you first come on, hopefully nothing will be trying to use the sound modules then. you could also check to make sure nothing is trying to play, that will take a while. like when you first login, you might have sound playing, since something is wrong it just keeps going, kind of like freezing your sound mods. if that makes sense.

other than that, learn the installation wizard once more.
