That would be a lot better, but now I just wasted 2 CDs on it with no outcome so when I'm not so upset at it, maybe I'll try again.

LOL, my first trip through LFS (unsuccessful) ended in a borked system and then I found out my kids had destroyed my intall disk....and I was working on the laptop I use at work! I was up half the night downloading and reinstalling my OS. The second time I set up dual boot with a dedicated LFS_BUILD install.

It's not something to rush through.
