The message was not blank - it was an attempt to express the feeling I had at that time,
because you just ran nmap to check your own machine... and the ssh question was also answered by yourself in the post above.
I shall refrain from such things in the future...

Thanks everybody for the replies.

So the 'nmap' is coming from a freeware program. How do I know all the freeware programs availble for networking!

By the way, Windows users use its builit-in 'Hyperterminal' for configuring reomote servers/computers. Is it safe or like 'telnet' opens to everybody?

your best best would be to download a live cd that is security based. go to www.distrowatch.com there are plenty out there - load of networking tools (for legit use only please )

i wouldnt recommend using telnet at all.

check out my ssh howto:

You don't have to refrain from answering. I know that people are not indulging in jibes here. Everything takes place in a frindly enviornment.

So feel free to write your opinion.

By the way, nobody answered my question on the behaviour Hyperterminal.

Let us say you have to configure your Cisco router.
You have a Windows computer.
Microsoft has made a program or icon called 'Hyperterminal'.

You clicked that icon and configure your router.

Of course people could use Telent and SSH too.

I just want to know whether this Hyperterminal uses any encryption technology.

Thanks Jomen

In SSH, I guess you use the PGP techniques. I mean you make a private and public key. Please tell me if I am wrong.
