telnet

i dont mean anyharm to anyone....but i would like to know how a password can be
got when the user is in rlogin or telnet

Mara 11-11-2003 12:09 PM

When you login using telnet, password goes unencrypted. It means that anyone listening to the connection can read it and use. That's why telnet shouldn't be used - ssh is a better replacement.

What do you mean? It's not secure, because it was designed this way...

Well why didn't you ask this in the first place. Mara explained and answered your previous question in plain clear english.

Nothing is wrong with telnet, its just insecure. Its unencrypted data being passed back and forth from the client to the remote host which makes it easy to capture and sniff the information being passed from one to the other, etc.

What else are you looking for?

Maybe someday when you found that your server were hacked when you are using telnet, you will cry to the end and start scold the telnet " Damn Telnet, you make me reinstalling my server"

Do you got what Mara and trickykid said now?
