taring 5.8GB on RedHat Enterprise AS 2.1
HI All,
I'm using RedHat cluster with two node setup, running As 2.1 ( e27enterprise Kernel), everything was working fine since last week when cluster Nodes rebooted automatically when it was running DB2 maintenance scripts, Found that Node rebooted when it was taring 5.8GB of files( taring two files 3.1GB + 2.7GB) and it happened twice at the same time(when the script runs). My question - Is there any limit on the file size with tar and i also need to find out if that is problem then why cluster Node freek out and reboot it should just thro the tar error - Dave |
Not that I know of with tar, but depending on age, there's a 2Gb limit on fileutils, the kernel itself, the filesystem, or maybe glibc... all 4 have had it at one time... for what you cause a spontaneous reboot? I can't think of which would cause that... I've seen tar just stop dead and have to be killed when the file makes it to 2gb before, but not freeze.
