Tar Backup Problem

I have a tar backup that runs nightly on my webserver, I am having a problem with the backups quitting halfway through because they come accross a file that changed during the backup or an open file. Is there a way to ignore the errors and have tar keep going? The data I am trying to backup is always in use and I can't shut it down.
