yes, you can boot them....I've written a program to help shell server admins...but I'm not quite finished with it. I still need to add an ncurses interface for good fun.

E-Mail me if you want it.

(It shows who's logged on to what, from where, using what, running what)

ps -ef |grep <username> |awk '{print #2}'| xargs kill -9 will boot the user .

a simple w <enter> will list them with the current shell command they are running.

Aaron, I'd love to try out your script. email me at john at ctdatasys dot com if you don't mind sharing it.

thanks to some happy jerk's mailling frenzy, my server is listed in the ORDB as an open relay...I won't have time to update it until this weekend. I'm gonna put it up on http://www.geocities.com/wholeyfunk/programs/

I'll put up a tar of the sources, as well as a small RPM I've built.

NOTE: It installs to /usr/local/bin...just so you know...it's suid root, but I've made the code as secure as I know how so there aren't any buffer overflows that I know of. Wait for version 2.0 for some nice ncurses support.

NOTA BENE: I'll try and get it up within the next 2 days..
