systemd concept

I have read that systemd has replaced init and in systemd, all sockets are created in one step and services are then started in parallel speeding up the boot process.

But I am unable to find how actually the systemd boot process takes place. Can anyone explain me the step by step booting process with systemd so that I can clearly compare it with SysVinit?

There's a great series of posts on systemd by Lennart Poettering here: http://0pointer.de/blog/projects

New release of systemd.

Boy, it’s getting scarier and scarier!...

Quote:
* nss-myhostname will now also resolve "localhost" implicitly. This makes /etc/hosts an optional file and nicely handles that on IPv6 ::1 maps to both "localhost" and the local hostname.
Systemd is totally taking over GNU/Linux! Should we call it “Systemd/Linux” now? RMS was right from the beginning: GNU is really not UNIX!! Like... no kidding!
