System Logs

I am using root-tail program to have my /var/log/messages displayed in the corner of the X session a all times. I noticed i get the following in the log every once now and then:
Jun 7 23:06:54 SlackBox -- MARK --
SlackBox is obviously my Hostname but what does -- MARK -- mean?
Thanks in advance!
