system log(last log)

When I check my system log files everything is visible, but when I check over at "Lastlog" there is nothing, it's completely empty. When I'm in lastlog, I can hold down the space bar and scroll down from 0% to 10% to 100% but it's completely empty. How come it's like that?

Hi,

The command (/usr/bin/)lastlog uses the file (/var/log/)lastlog.
/var/log/lastlog is not human readable.

man lastlog for more details.

Hope this helps.

Not readable? Why would they do that? That's stupid. Then if it's not readable how would I know who last logged? Is there a way to check that?

*thanks for reply and yes I'll go check the man page.
