i want to know how can i configure a service to use local(n) facility in the syslog.conf file
sometimes i found that ldap service use local4
and boot use local5 ;
how can i configure that?

u need to use syslog function ur program
there u can specify a free local* like local6
and in syslog.conf u need to specify that all dat u have on local6 will be exported to a specific file
