sysadmin documentation question
I've been using Linux for several years now, when I first started using Linux I was only playing with / managing 1 system. However now, I have several Linux systems on my network and I manage a few for some friends as well. When I had just the one system, I kept all my system administration type notes in a plain text file. In here I kept notes for myself on special software configurations, hardware information, backups, etc. Now that I am managing a few different systems the plain text file has gotten a bit cumbersome and unorganized. Does anyone know of any programs under Linux or have a suggestion that simplifies or otherwise organizes the task of keeping good system administration notes / reports?
Thanks for any and all suggestions. AJ |
This may sound slightly daft but why not put a simple bulletin board on your machine that only you can post to and read to. You could use categories to seperate information into hardare, software and other etc. Then post a new thread for each problem/note - you could then post replies with any modifications you had to make in order for things to work on other machines etc.
