I have a couple of questions regarding the information in /sys/class/hwmon. As I understand it each entry in that directory corresponds to a different sensor/hardware monitoring device.
For example, on my system I have coretemp and w83627ehf. My question is if I had to choose which readings to use which would be better? coretemp seems to give me the direct temperature of each core on my core 2 duo processor, but no other data. w83627ehf gives me 3 temperature readings, one is significantly higher than the other 2, plenty of voltage readings and 3 fan readings.
My question, I guess, is how is w83627ehf relating to a dual core system? The lm_sensors config file labels w83627ehf readings as such:
label in0 "VCore"
label in2 "AVCC"
label in3 "3VCC"
label in7 "VSB"
label in8 "VBAT"
label fan1 "Case Fan"
label fan2 "CPU Fan"
label fan3 "Aux Fan"
label temp1 "Sys Temp"
label temp2 "CPU Temp"
label temp3 "AUX Temp"
So, going by those labels, how is it determining CPU temp in one reading when there are two cores to be obtaining readings from? What does Sys and Aux temperature relate to? Mobo temperatures?
Also, while I'm at it, what is the in0_min value referring to? Is it a minimum voltage? If so, why is it that on some systems my voltage _input value is always higher than the _min value? Does some scaling need to happen there?

Also, does anyone know whether or not the type of sensor recorded in temp*_type has any implications for the scaling of the actual _input value?
