Unhappy symbol error: g_type_register_static_simple

Trying to install the Midori Linux browser via a custom slackware CD (so I have to get or create tgz's myself). It supposedly only needed: icu, sqlite, webkit, and libsexy. They didn't include libraries apparently.

I'm trying to stay away from installing the huge glibc package, so I went with Midori. Problem is, when trying to start it, I get the error posted above as the title "symbol error: g_type_register_static_simple". I'm not sure if this has to do with having different versions of the same library or not. The list of packages I have installed are below. This is the first time I have done this so please understand that I tend to make stupid mistakes once in a while. Let me know if you have any idea how to take care of this.

The irony is, I'm just trying to get 2 programs on it. Gentoo (file manager) and Midori (web browser). 2 programs and this is the only thing holding me back. Seriously. No other programs...besides xterm (obviously). I just can't seem to get the browser installed. Gentoo works just fine though. Please help in any way you can.

According to this, the missing symbol was introduced in glib2-2.12. So you have to upgrade your glib2. I don't think that glib2 has any dependencies, so it will be easy to do.

Regards

I'm trying to do all this without installing glibc, as the package takes up a huge amount of space. I'm trying to post in the DSL's native forum asking how they managed to get Dillo on DSL without the full use of glibc. That might be my answer. If they have the packages, I can just convert them to slackware packages like I have had to for so many other packages I've needed.

Mind that this is glib2, not glibc that you need to upgrade. glib2 is needed by software mostly dependent on gtk, while glibc is a core linux library used by almost everything that runs on a linux system.
