Exclamation Swap partition failure!!!


Hello all,
It reports the hd5 failure when I start linux. How can I fix it ? Must I recreate a swap partition? How? Can linux work without swap partition?

well, you should be able to use fdisk to format or recreate a swap space partition, and if can get into linux, either rescue disk or whatever, you can make a temporary swap space with the mkswap command, or you can also use this command to create personal swap spaces for users...etc....

Question SWAP partition

hello,
If I create the swap parition myself after installed linux. Should I re-mount it myself and how?

Add a line to your /etc/fstab file that looks like this:

/dev/hdXY swap swap defaults 0 0

Replace the X and Y with the correct partition information. After you do this, then run the command swapon -a. This will activate your swap partition.
