Do not use xinerama. Create an xorg.conf that runs one monitor, and then use 'xrandr' to enable and position the second monitor.

xrandr appears to only see one output but the radeon Hd 5700 has two dvi ouputs with monitors on both

Screen 0: minimum 1600 x 1200, current 1600 x 1200, maximum 1600 x 1200
default connected 1600x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1600x1200 77.0*

Please show us the new xorg.conf file you created and the corresponding /var/log/Xorg.0.log file, too. When posting them here, please use

tags.

May I ask why you don't simpy use the ATI Catalyst Control Center that you have installed, instead of usin Sax or xrandr? Should be the easiest way to setup dual monitor.

Hi I have a similar problem. lspci shows two ATI Radeon 5700 cards. I have connected monitors to both outlets. However only one works. And as the other person said, I also installed the ATI Catalyst Control Center. For some reason, in the Display Manager there, it shows the second monitor as a "[Unknown Display] Unknown adapter". Any ideas? Has anyone fixed this already? (I am using Linux Mint 12)
