SuSE 9.1 Installation Problem

I recently did an FTP install of SuSE 9.1. The installation and configuration went well. When I tried to log in, however, I found out the installation had failed to ask me to create a login. It did ask me for a root password though. Is there a way to create a login without actually logging in or do I have to reinstall?

I have Knoppix and SuSE 9.1 Live so if there is a way to add a login from those I have access to them.

Can you login as root to the system?

If you can, its very easy. Login ass root, open yast2, go to "users and groups", and add a new user, at you own will.

I can't log in to log in as root. I was wondering if there was a way to create an account through something like Knoppix or another live distribution.
