suse 9.0 configuration

Can any one tell me how to remove the local network icon from the desktop? It isn't needed and it doesn't work correctly (doesn't find any work groups, which confuses people). Suse has done their best to make it impossible to remove. However, I want to get rid of it. Can you tell me how?

You can remove it as root, but it just regenerates. After I tried that, it started comming back without an entry in the desktop folder. Officially, it's not there.

You want to remove the icon Local Network Browsing from your KDE desktop or at least be able to control its mode of operation.

Procedure
Start YaST and select the menu entries:
System
Editor for /etc/sysconfig Files
Open the following path in the tree structure "Configuration Options" on the left:
Desktop
KDE
Lisa
Select the entry "USE_LAN_SERVER".
Select the desired option (e.g. "none" to disable the icon) from the drop-down menu.

Background Information
This icon is in fact a part of the network scanner service LISA (package "kdenetwork3-lisa"), which provides access to various network shares and services from the graphical interface in a simple way. See also the section "Procedure with KDE" from the article Access to Windows Shares.

Thank you. I thought I already knew what was offered, so I didn't look. Stupid of me.
