Superkaramba can't be compiled because of missing Python libraries/headers. Help!

Hey all. I'm a fairly new Linux user, and I just installed Mandriva x64 2006 :) . Anywho, I decided to try out superkaramba, but after I extract it and do a ./configure on it, I get this: "Superkaramba can't be compiled
because of missing Python libraries/headers.
"

I googled Python and downloaded their latest stable version, like 2.4.2 or something I believe. I successfully installed it, and after I did, i tryed to do another ./configure on Superkaramba again. Same messege popped up. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I think you need the following in addition to python:

python-gtk

Now I get this when I try do do a ./configure on PyGTK : "checking for headers required to compile python extensions... not found
configure: error: could not find Python headers
[root@localhost pygtk-2.8.0]# "

Any help?

use urpmi to look for superkaramba, if no joy then use it to gt the python-devel packages

SuperKaramba requires the python-devel package for your distro when compiling it manually.

I got the same issue with fedora 7 and superkaramba 0.39 the problem is that it' looking for last version of python 2.4 but I have 2.5 I edited the configure file and replaced:

---------------
if test -z ""2.4""; then
version="1.5"
else
version=""2.4""
fi
------------
by
------------
if test -z ""2.5""; then
version="1.5"
else
version=""2.5""
fi
------------

That's was the solution you still need also the python-devel.
