Strange warning message when accessing zip files on specific samba share

I have 3 virtually identical linux servers (Redhat ES 3) (samba 3.0.9-1.3E.2)

Each has multiple samba shares.

Whenever I double click, or right click on any .zip file, on one of the shares on one of the servers, i get a warning that says.

"This page has an unspecified potential security flaw. Would you like to continue?"

This weird thing is this only happens on this one share. On other shares on same server - no warning, and on the other servers (which have the same stuff shared), no warning on any of the shares. (I just now, did a test with the very same zip file, to make sure it had nothing to do with the file.)

I have gone through all the samba settings in webmin, and compared it to settings of the other shares (which it gives no warning on), and can't find any discrepancies)

Any idea's what might cause this?

It's driving me crazy, because it happens (damn you Murphy!!) to be happening on the single most used share out of all of them (like 99% of the time I click on a zip file, its on this share)

I don't think this is a GNU/Linux issue but a MsIE ("security" zones) one.

I do not get this message on the other shares though. If it was a purly windows thing, would I not get this message when clicking on a zip on any of the shares?

Since it only happens on 1 share on 1 of the three linux servers -- I feel that is must have to do with the samba settings for that share. I just can't seem to find the discrepancy.

You actually set me on the right track. I started trying differing things in windows, and found when accessing the share like this

\\192.168.202.231\ttc

i get the warning.

but when accessing it like this

\\tcrtsrvl1\ttc

I don't.

Old thread, I know. However, I'm bumping it with a solution, in case other users are experiencing this. If you go to the windows security center (via control panel on the client machines) and add the IP address for the smb server to the trusted sites list, this message will go away. It is indeed caused by some mistrust on the windows end when accessing via IP rather than hostname.

I'm not aware of a way to fix this from the server-side, but the above will work on the client machines.
