Hi eveybody,
I am integrating our company development to use java for application development, so far so good and java still slow as a turtle. We optted for java 1.3v and there is no problem at all, the problem starts with java1.4v I am just playing with it at home, the applications are working properly but the applets present a strange behaviour, if I come across a java applet on the net (I have all the plugins installed properly) the applet loads but it won't refresh (it's like a still screenshot, for instance at dslreports.com when I am testing my connection speed - the applet loads and I can't press the start button), so I found a work around if I minimize the browser and maximize it again the applet starts working (java1.3v has no problems at all). Has any of you came across the same annoyance?
the java 1.4 pluggin works great on my box. What browser are you using? Ive got mozilla1.0 and galeon.
One thing i do remember, was that using the web plugin for one jvm (eg 1.4 ), whilst my PATH was still set to use 1.3.1 did cause a few weird error messages.
what version of mozilla are you running? I have just remembered that i may have seen a similar problem a few months ago with an old applet of mine that i hadnt looked at for 6 months. I get no such problems now with moziila1.0.
Ok, I just f... up somethig here, I aimed to install mozilla 1.0, I went to their website and grabbed an installer instead of RPM (RPM release doesn't support Xprint or True Type, so I got the installer removed mozilla from my system, installed new mozilla, adjusted everything - PATH, plugins, etc. Then I realized that galeon wo't work, so I tried and it didn't, so I went to galeon site and got galeon for slack (dumb me), unpack it under / and it won't install (I did install/doinst.sh), so now I got the RPM for galeon and installed without deps, but now I have dingling slack galeon scattered around my system, taking up space ... damn, java plugin still acts weird though.
