Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I took a linux-free desktop today and installed Slack 10.1 (2.4.29), and I then configured WiFi and upgraded to KDE 3.5.1 and kernel 184.108.40.206.
No problem so far (apart from when I removed KDE 3.3, I zapped by mistake the 2.4.29 sources).
I have now realized that I mistakenly omitted to include support for ntfs, so I want to recompile 220.127.116.11.
I do make mrproper, then make menuonfig, and I get this error:

/usr/include/bits/local_lim.h:36:26: linux/limits.h: No such file or directory

I have reinstalled the source for 2.4.29 (and it allows make menuconfig with no errors), but I still get this error for 18.104.22.168.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get 22.214.171.124 to compile again (I have re-untar'ed the source, but still no dice).
