Strange characters in man pages


Helllo, my man pages contains really odd characters for some reason and sometimes there's streaks of lines/dots down the screen, anyone know why? Thanks!

Fixing one man glitch involves putting 'LESSCHARSET=latin1' in your environment - from the man man page. Sounds like yours is weirder than that though and I don't know anything beyond that if that doesn't work for you.

export LANG=en_EN.ISO-8859-1 should do the trick. It works for me.
What you probably see is utf-8 garbage, the default nowadays.
