Stopping portage from emerging later kernel versions...
Hey guys, Every time I update my gentoo box I always see that a new kernel version has been installed on my box. I was just wondering how am i able to keep portage from emerging newer versions of the kernel. Iam currently using Kernel-2.6.11-r9 and i dont want anything later. I tried locking it down in /etc/portage/package.keywords like other packages.
For example.
Quote:
=app-emulation/vmware-workstation-5.5.1.19175
That basically forces portage to see that i only want that version of vmware. But it does not work the same way with the kernel.
yep i know that, but still its a waste of B/W and hard drive space when it downloads a 40MB kernel everytime and compiles it all and it then extracts it.. even though its not in use
