Sounds like you're running Gnome, and sounds like you've managed to save your session while you had a Gnome Terminal open. If this is the case, the "cure" is to close the Gnome Terminal (and all other apps, unless you want them to be launched when you log in), then navigate the menu (system/admin or something like that) to the Session management tool (not sure what it's called exactly in an english SuSE/Gnome desktop, but session-something I guess -- you can't miss it), select the option to save session at logout, log out and log back in, re-open the sessions tool and take off the option of saving session at logout. Shortly said you ask it to save your session at next logout, and log out with a clean desktop, then log back in (and get the clean desktop) and disable session saving.
