Question STEPS TO MIGRATE FROM LINUX KERNEL 2.4 to 2.6


hi,


please tell me the detailed steps to migrate from linux kernel 2.4 to 2.6.I am new to linux.So please tell me the steps in detail

Migrating the kernel is generally:
1. compiling the kernel
2. copy the kernel and its modules to standard path (/lib, /boot/)
3. Change your initrd as needed (Too much to explain over here...)
4. reboot your system

thanks for the reply..but much more detailed one i need....like i know to compile the kernel...after that what are the steps for migration....
