start the service for every boot time


Hi

I have installed apache with .tar file .I have the
apache under /usr/local/apache . apachectl file under
/usr/local/apache/bin directory. How to start the
apachectl service for every time system restart, It
must be start automatically. Please tell me how to
do... How to write the script, how to configure for
run level 2,3 and 5. Please give me the solution as
soon as possible.

What distribution are you using?

Some have different tools than others...

'man chkconfig' may work for you.

You do not mention which distro you are using, this is important because some distro's have a different way of implementing the runlevel mechanism.

Feed your fav searchengine with: runlevels <distro>
You should get lots of hits.

If something is still not clear, feel free to ask

Add the command to /etc/rc.d/rc.local
