i am using gdm to login and I tried to put the prog(lineakd, in this case) in .xsession and .xinitrc, both doesn't work(doesn't load).

what other file should I try?

I think gdm does not read .xinitrc. You interactively choose a session. So make a session that will execute $HOME/.xinitrc. I have never tried gdm. But I think the file should go in to the directory /etc/X11/gdm/Session/.
