Staroffice52 installed already but...
 

I just installed staroffice as root and just can't open it as normal user (it worked fine as root tough), i also installed a KDE acqua theme too and some styles from a cd as root , but i don't know how to make them work . help please .

this is one reason i always install and setup while a regular user..so root doesn't own whatever you install. then i always su as root when needed to for admin stuff regular users can't do.

Do you mean there's no way i can get staroffice as normal user ?

for staroffice multiple user setup and yes you can install staroffice as a regular user too..

I found that you can copy the ".sversionrc" file to everyone's home directory and it works fine.

Also, apparently people need "write" access to the Star Office directory tree. In order to accomplish this, I made a group called "soffice" and added all users who use Star Office to that group. THen I did this:

find /usr/local/staroffice6.0 -type d | xargs chgrp soffice
find /usr/local/staroffice6.0 -type d | xargs chmod g+rwxs
find /usr/local/staroffice6.0 -type d | xargs chmod +t

This gave me some error messages because "find" didn't quote the file names that contained spaces, but Star Office still worked okay.
