I heard somewhere that there is a window manager which has really cool special effects, like when you close a program, it shatters into a million pieces. Can anybody tell me which one that is and possibly show a screenshot of it?

well, when you remove a dock from windowmaker, it has a similar effect... although to be quite honest, that really doesn't happen too often, unless you really love adding a removing docks. :-)
i haven't seen any screenshots of it, or at least any i can remember. just try it out and see what you think. but you'll have to enable it, cause i think by default animations are disabled in WM.
