spam filter
 
what is the best way to save myself from spams everyday. I have Mandrake with Sendmail as my MTA...
Is there any free s/w that I can dowload and install??

Works well with Sendmail, the website is a little upside down at the moment as it's being updated but you should be able to find your way around

Doesn't your email client have a junk mail filter built in? I know Thunderbird has a great one. You just mark messages as junk by pressing "J," and you mark messages in the trash as not junk by pressing "shift" + "J." After a week and a half or so, Thunderbird's junk mail filter is pretty well "trained."
