Sound server fatal error: cpu overload, aborting v. KDEv.3.3

I am using KDE 3.3 and I keep getting the error "Sound server fatal error: cpu overload, aborting" anyone know a solution to this problem in KDE version 3.3. I do not get this error in gnome.

Does this happen out of the blue? Have you made any recent changes to your system? Does it happen when you are running a particular app? Can you consistently reproduce the error? I would suggest you first update your KDE to 3.5 (unless there's a reason why you need to run an older version) and see if the problem still persists. Also it would be helpful if you could fill in (or mention in your post) what distro you are using.

Fedora enterprise I believe, and I am on a work system, so I cannot update without going through IT and well that will probably never happen. the error comes up fairly often, but I am not sure what is causing it. I can still hear sound, but the error is annoying.
