Software Raid & OS Reinstall
Given the following:
Fedora 8 OS is installed on drive sda and a software RAID5 was built on sdb, sdc, & sde.
If the sda drive dies and has to be replaced - which necessitates reinstalling the OS - would the reinstalled OS be able to recognize the existing software RAID5 on drives sdb/c/d?
I'm not sure exactly how software RAIDs work. Is all the information for their definition and set-up stored on the physical drives included in the RAID, or is the RAID defined only within the OS that created it?
Thanks,
