99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99
99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99
99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99

Has anyone else gotten this? How do i fix this? Thanks

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...04/05/1/177691 will assist you in reinstalling LILO.

gbdavidx 11-08-2004 02:58 PM

This is what my some of my lilo.conf looks like:

#Start LILO Global Section
boot = /dev/hda

...

#Linux Bootable partion config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root = /dev/hda2
label = Slackware

Is there anything im doing wrong?

No, a lot of people have problems with their bootloader, it just needs to be reinstalled. It may be that your mbr became corrupted. It's happened to me a couple of times :)

gbdavidx 11-08-2004 03:48 PM

how do i reinstall it? it doesn't say how to on that page... i don't have knoppix either

gbdavidx 11-09-2004 12:13 AM

hello????? can anyone help me? i tried running mcedit /etc/lilo.conf and i got an error

Probably the easiest way to fix the L 99 error is to reinstall the whole OS. I've gotten this error before and have tried many different solutions with little or no success (actually none at all). Unless someone knows specifically how to fix this problem it will be faster just to re-install.

Now if you ever get the L 50 error. Use a boot disk or your installation cd to boot into your system and run lilo.conf.

Just reinstall Lilo with a rescue disc. Won't take a second.

gbdavidx 11-09-2004 03:55 PM

rescue disc? i don't have a floppy driver... and i've tried reformatting my hard drive numorous times and i get the same error... i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

You have the Slackware discs right? The second disc acts as a Rescue disc if my memory serves me right. When you have booted into a rescue session mount your linux hd (something like "mount /dev/hda2 /mnt"). Chroot to it ("chroot /mnt"). Then reinstall lilo "lilo".
