Hi all.
I have recently been looking at getting a RedHat 8.0 server set up with Samba. Having never used Linux before it has been a bit of a trial, but I'm at the stage where I'm starting to understand it better. The most recent problem I've come across is in installing Samba. I have been following the guide at
http://hr.uoregon.edu/davidrl/samba/...unofficial.txt and it has worked so far until it tells you to start the daemons. I don't seem to have the smbd or nmbd files! I have tried reinstalling Samba and they are still not there. I have even run a search from Gnome and they don't appear to be on the system at all.
Would there be any reason that these files are missing, or is there another way that I need to start Samba running? It's getting frustrating, because I think I'm at the stage where I've got everything else set up and I just can't start the thing!!
Thanks in advance for any help or advice,
PhilHalf
