sleep mode
On redhat 7.2 how would you cause the
system to enter a rest or sleep mode after a given length of inactivity ? My screen saver comes up but system never seems to "rest" thanx |
In your XF86Config(-4) file add the following lines to the "Server Flags" section,
Code:
Option "BlankTime" "30" |
I had the same problem, but the X-server solution outlined by Aussie would not work because I wanted the monitor to suspend when no user was logged on, i.e., no X-server running.
The solution is to add the following line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local setterm -powerdown xx where xx is the time (in minutes) after which you want the monitor to powerdown. I'm pretty sure there is also a hdparm to spin down the hard disk, but I haven't gotten to that yet.... |
