Question slax !


hi

i just burnt slax , i booted with it , now what to do ? there comes alot of commands and then at the end it just stops and i start typing but i dont know what to do in there lol

never used linux

on the website it is written that login with password toor as root , how do i do that?

it is also written that type gui to go to x windows but when i type that nothing happens any idea? its my first time using any linux!

type in root (that is at the login prompt which you end up at) then hit enter
type in toor (that is your password) then hit enter
type in gui to open the gui then hit enter.

hi

no i dont finish up there

i just checked again i finish at 4 lines after where it says freeing up unused kernel memory 128 k , something like that

and after that 4 simliar line come in which one of the word is 777

thats it where it finishes

i booited once again and pressed f1 for help now , and used linux passwd:ask and it said cannot find kernel image live : kernel , then it stsarted booting again and finihed at the same lines , i used nohotplug and other commands as well but it finish up at the same lines

any idea?

When you downloaded the iso, did you check the md5sums?

Go here if you need to know how to do that.

yes i checked the md5checksum and it was correct

i just tried again didnt work and these are the last lines it says :

All I can suggest at the moment is to try on a different pc/laptop and see if the problem follows you. That would narrow it down to being a disc or machine problem.

hello

i tried on another pc exactly same problem

that pc is p 4 2.6 ghz with 800 mhz fsb
768 mb ram
geforce fx 5200
intel mother board


can anyone help me please?

Sounds as though your disk is the problem.

I'd suggest reburning the iso, but at a slower speed.
