Slackware 8.0 Help Needed!!! Fast!!!
Ok, so I installed finally Slackware as so many have praised it.
Well, installation was easy, but now I booted up my new, "fabulous" OS and it comes and asks: Darkstar login: So this is how it looks after a while: Code:
Darkstar login: root What is wrong??? |
I don't know much about slackware, but if you have the lilo bootloader, at the lilo: prompt, type
linux init=/bin/bash rw then "passwd" and change your password to "foobaronme" or something that you can remember. then it should work. I don't know how to pass options to the kernel with grub, but the option you want to pass is "init=/bin/bash rw" hope this helps |
for christs sake I'm one dumbass.
Ok, I got it. It was GANDALF, not gandalf.
Just forgot, for a while, that in Linux size does matter, unlike in DOS. Damn you T1000SE... Ok now, but how I create new users. I'm afraid of moving around as root. In Mandrake, I just opened one file as root and BANG!!! X didn't work no more... :) |
