Shortcuts and things to make the Linux experience a little bit smoother...

Thought it'd be fun to create a thread where users could post up some favorite shortcuts they like to use....whether it be keyboard shortcuts or maybe a couple options added to a command to make the process go a little easier. I know sometimes I hate having to sift through oodles of options to find what I like and what would be more effective for a situation. So if you all wouldn't care, post some of your favorite shortcuts and things you like to use. I'll start with a few I like...

1st off, can't praise this enough as I use it all the time (hopefully many know this one)...but you can switch terminal views by holding Ctrl-Alt and any one of the F keys through 6. Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2... etc. And apparently (I haven't done this one though) you can the same thing with X server if you use F keys 7 through 12...or something to that effect.

Another one I like is that I normally use the options lsh after the ls command. Helps me to see file/folder ownership, size, and what not.

I'm not sure if you're asking about this, but...
in KDE i use:
Win+W=xmms (like WinAmp)
Win+R=console (like Windows->Run)
Win+E=konqueror (like Explorer)
F2=save a file in KWrite
F3=search a file in konqueror (like IE again)
And about X. You can run 7 Xs simultaneously and switch thru Ctrl+Alt+F(7-12). Just "startx -- :1" for F8, "startx -- :2" for F9... but it's unconvinient to have several Xs.
