Sharing a cd drive in linux possible?

hi guys/gals,
Quick question. I use linux for nearly 90% of day to day tasks. I still need windows for work related stuff and backing up my dvd collection (yes i mean backing up, £15 per DVD in the UK, i dont want my originals getting scratched). Until i remember how to get dvdbackup to work under mandrake then this is the case. My question is this: Can i use my work windoz box to access my linux box dvd drive, backup that disk and write it back to my linux box {using DVDshrink or similar}. They are both connected to the network. I know sharing cd drives is possible under windoz, so i instantly presume this is possible under superior linux

Any comments will be greatly appreciated {apart from ones i dont like}

I don't if I have understood you well BUT
Yes you can access linux shares from windows using SAMBA.
You gotta setup & configure samba on your linux box and then you can make shares on your linux box and then browse them from the windows pc.

Yes.
You can mount the cd drive to a mount point, and then share this mount point with samba.

think I understand your intention....

-make iso´s from your CD`s (to protect the originals)
-store the files on a linux box (samba share)
-if needed, access this files (as cd-image) from your win-boxes
