shared Memory versus the total amount of RAM on the server

I am trying to put together some info before I reconfuring Linux RedHat Advance server 2.1. If I have the total of 2G of RAM available on the server, I am going to install Oracle afterward and I read one of the docs, it advises to inscrease SHMMAX to 2G. My question is if I have 2G total on the box, is it ok for me to increase the SHMMAX to 2G???

Any drawback or issues???

Probably that would be OK, but your best bet is to talk to Red Hat technical support. You did buy support, right? ;)
