Cool sftp ls command, short listing vs long listing

Ok when I sftp from an old version of solaris 9 and I run an "ls" I get the following:

Code:
sftp > ls
drwxr-xr-x 16 fnowicki users 3304 Feb 4 12:02 .
drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 424 Sep 5 09:17 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 fnowicki users 411 May 12 2012 1
-rw-r--r-- 1 fnowicki users 0 Nov 8 13:02 OUT
drwxr-xr-x 2 fnowicki users 160 Mar 26 2012 Old
drwxr-xr-x 2 root ftp 168 Sep 29 2009 bin

drwx------ 2 fnowicki users 248 Jan 30 11:43 .ssh
When I run it from a new version of sftp, i.e. "csw" I get
Code:
bash-2.05$ /opt/csw/bin/sftp fnowicki@ftp1
Password:
Connected to ftp1.
sftp> ls
1 Avaya

it doesn't look like it's configurable, why not just explicitly use ls -l?

Looking around I can't see any way at all to change that, I can't see any reference to any form of customization of those commands. maybe learn for next time to specify options explicitly ;-)
