well it depnds where the modem is doesn't it? if the modem is under linux, then just use firestarter or a similar program to set up ip forwarding for that box and use it as a gateway. if linux s just a client, then that's a windows issue.

We need to know some things first

What is the type of connection to the internet?

Who is the ISP?

How does it connect to the computer?

Name rank and serial number

How many NICs do you have in the Linux box?

Your favorite color?

Do you have a hub?

the name rank and serial number was a joke

the reason I wanted number of nics is because I thought you may have an ethernet connection to the internet.

So now we know you have a dialup connection and a lan setup with a hub

what we need to know now is

what's not working

Is your server connected and working with the internet?

If it is

are your lan clients connected and able to ping the server?

if so then..

you just need to get the routing working.

let us know

I have mandrake 8.1 and all I had to do was go into the mandrake Control Center (aka. DrakConf) Under Network & Internet there is a Connection Sharing window. Just go and click configure and follow the wizard. Then boom ICS is setup.

I have the same problem too sometimes. The work around for this problem is go into the Internet set up and make sure it says connected. If it doesn't go through the config again until it does say Connected. Once it does then the ICS should be working too.

this may be something

com one = ttyS0
com two = ttyS1

wvdial may use /dev/modem or /dev/ttyS?

also your program that your using my be the same.

try using /dev/ttyS? instead of /dev/modem on both.

or you can do this also

ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem

also it sounds like the gui programs are not working for you at this time.

try doing it with this howto

once it's up let us know what your next problem is
