setting up partitions for gentoo/winXP dual boot?

I currently have 2 NTFS partitions and i want to try my hand at Gentoo. yeah i know big step. i was following the handbook online as i tried the other night, but failed when i got to the kernel build as i could not mount to /boot.

i am very new to using fdisk as i normally just use debian, or CentOS default app to partition things up. i have not messed with a dual boot system in a long time.

from following the handbook i was able to create the /swap and / partition, but was unsure how to mess with /boot as the MBR is on /dev/sda1 and that is my winXP partition C:

how/what do i need to do to set up the partitions correctly so i can give it an other go without running the risk of messing up my 2 NTFS partitions.

Check out the manpages on grub. You can use grub to point to the /boot/grub/menu.lst file on whatever disk and partition it's on.
