While browsing the directories, and looking at services, I found this one running:
ProFTPd
Now, with a fair bit of searching round and such, I found www.proftpd.net, and they have heaps of documentation there about the program, but I still can't figure out how to setup users to login and upload their needed files ( based on vhosts ). Can anyone help me out?
ProFTPd is full of security holes and always has been, Pure-FTP is the way to go..I have used it at work and home for years..its one of the most secure and easy to use ftpd out there..
I've used wuftpd, proftpd, pureftpd and vsftpd.
Pureftpd I don't like at all, since you have to run it with commands instead of being able to edit a .conf file (e.g. ./pureftpd -S 700 would make it listen on port 700, I believe).
I reccomend vsftpd, just run the command you were given earlier for it and then edit vsftpd.conf (or it might be vsftp.conf I don't remember which) I believe it's in /etc, but i'm doing this from memmory since it's been a while since i've had to do anything to mine.
